The Green Hornet

Seth Rogen's Green Hornet project is getting underway not only with Stephen Chow attached as Kato but with MICHEL GONDRY attached to direct. Gondry is one of the most innovative directors out there with the critically acclaimed Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, visually daring The Science of Sleep, and the grand love letter to movies Be Kind Rewind under his belt.
In the same way that Christopher Nolan reinvented the superhero genre with Dark Knight making it dark, moody and fused in realism, I feel that Gondry could do with Green Hornet by making it spirited, colorful and imaginative paying homage to the pulp comic covers of yesteryear. Notably, The Green Hornet was especially violent so Gondry's previous work makes him a curious albeit brilliant choice. He has a strong handle on gripping personal drama as shown in and an creative vision that rarely feels unrealistic despite its absurdity. I think his vision could be akin to superheroes of old and make the genre that has become ultra-realistic extremely imaginative too.
